Showrunner of ‘Agatha All Along’ Suggests Who Might Be Nicky’s ‘Father’
In the final episode of ‘Agatha All Along,’ we delve deeper into Agatha Harkness’ complex past and discover the origins of her son, Nicholas Scratch, who is familiar to fans from the comics.
The climax of Agatha’s tale reveals her encounter with Death during childbirth. In an attempt to save her son, she sacrifices other witches, only to face Death again when she ceases these sacrifices due to Nicky’s influence.
Jac Schaeffer, the showrunner, recently hinted in an interview that the character Rio Vidal, also known as Death, might be the father of Agatha’s child.
Schaeffer playfully noted the resemblance between the cast members and the characters, indicating that the audience’s guesses about Rio and Agatha’s connection might be on point. “We often wondered if the actors resembled Rio or Aubrey Plaza,” Schaeffer shared, amused by the intense fan theories and shipping.
She expressed surprise at the depth of the fan engagement and hopes for more exploration of Agatha and Rio’s backstory in the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
The storyline suggests that a witch can have a child without a man, adding a poignant layer to Rio taking her son to the afterlife.
While the series provides fertile ground for more stories, especially about an adult Nicky potentially being an ‘Agent of Mephisto,’ Schaeffer emphasized her astonishment at the fervor of the fans and their eagerness to see more of Agatha and Death’s past. Aubrey Plaza’s return to the MCU is highly anticipated.
‘Agatha All Along’ portrays Agatha Harkness at her lowest, powerless until a goth teen frees her from a spell and coaxes her into embarking on the Witches’ Road.
This journey promises to restore what’s lost if they can survive its trials. Together with a hastily formed coven, Agatha and the teen face numerous challenges along this perilous path.
The cast includes Kathryn Hahn, Joe Locke, Sasheer Zamata, and Ali Ahn among others, with notable appearances by Debra Jo Rupp and Patti LuPone. Aubrey Plaza’s performance stands out, adding depth to the ensemble. Catch all episodes of ‘Agatha All Along’ now on Disney+.
