Simu Liu Confirms ‘Shang-Chi 2’ is on the Horizon

Simu Liu, the star of ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’, recently shared some exciting news on ‘The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon’. He confirmed that a sequel is definitely in the works. This comes as a sigh of relief for many of us who have been eagerly waiting for any updates, especially since the movie has been missing from the MCU’s release schedule.

The first ‘Shang-Chi’ movie, directed by Destin Daniel Cretton, was a hit back in 2021, raking in over $400 million globally despite pandemic challenges. With such a strong performance and a new Marvel character introduced, it seemed obvious that a sequel would follow. Yet, we haven’t seen Shang-Chi in any other Marvel projects since then, which is a bit surprising given his popularity.

Liu expressed his gratitude for the overwhelming fan support and the constant inquiries about the sequel. He mentioned, ‘I really take it to heart, and I really, really appreciate it, I do.’ It’s clear that both he and Cretton are thrilled to dive back into this story.

However, there’s been a delay in getting ‘Shang-Chi 2′ off the ground, which has sparked some speculation. It seems Marvel Studios might be taking extra time to develop the sequel, possibly due to behind-the-scenes changes after Jonathan Majors’ dismissal. This could mean that the sequel might be pushed to Phase 6 or even Phase 7, following the conclusion of the Multiverse Saga.

For now, ‘Shang-Chi 2’ doesn’t have a set release date, but the commitment to continuing this journey is strong. The wait may be a bit longer than we hoped, but it sounds like it will be worth it. As we look forward to seeing Simu Liu, along with cast members like Tony Leung, Awkwafina, and Michelle Yeoh return, the anticipation only builds. Let’s keep our fingers crossed for more updates soon.
