Soldier Boy Was Robbed of a Proper Comeback in ‘The Boys’ Season 4

Season 4 of ‘The Boys’ wrapped up with a bang, but it left me feeling let down by how they brought back Soldier Boy. After a standout debut by Jensen Ackles in Season 3, many of us were eager to see more of his character. Despite being defeated and put back into cryosleep by Grace Mallory, it felt like there was unfinished business with Soldier Boy.

The latest season did promise a return of this character, but it wasn’t what we expected. Soldier Boy only showed up in a post-credits scene, still in his cryosleep chamber without even a single line to say. Homelander learns his father is still around, which was a touching moment but didn’t really do much for Soldier Boy’s own story. It felt like a missed opportunity to dive deeper into one of the showโ€™s most intriguing characters.

I’m surprised he didnโ€™t have a bigger role this season, especially considering he’s Homelanderโ€™s father. Their complicated relationship could have added so much more to the storyline. Instead, his limited screen time and absence from the main events left much to be desired. His brief cameo during Gen V wasnโ€™t enough either.

Grace Mallory, who had a pivotal role in keeping Soldier Boy under wraps, died in the Season 4 finale, closing any speculation about her future plans for him. With Homelander now calling the shots, itโ€™s unclear how Soldier Boyโ€™s presence will be handled in the upcoming season.

Looking forward to Season 5, itโ€™s crucial that Soldier Boy gets the screen time he deserves. There’s potential for a full-blown war with Homelander at the helm, and hopefully, Soldier Boy will be right in the thick of it. And if rumors are true and Jared Padalecki joins the cast, a โ€˜Supernaturalโ€™ reunion could spice things up in the final season.
