Star Wars Fans Respond to ‘The Acolyte’s’ Cancellation: ‘It was bigoted and racist trash’

The Star Wars series ‘The Acolyte’ was recently canceled after just one season. This show, which premiered earlier this year, faced a lot of criticism for various reasons, including what some described as ‘woke’ themes. Despite high hopes with its production quality, the series didn’t meet expectations in several key areas like storytelling, performance, and writing. The pacing was off too.

The cancellation didn’t come as a surprise to many of us. I talked about the show’s uncertain future a few weeks ago. The combination of its hefty production costs and dwindling viewership numbers played a big role in this decision. Each week, fewer and fewer of us tuned in, despite claims that it was among the most popular Star Wars shows ever.

It’s a mixed bag of reactions from the community about the show ending. Some of us are really disappointed, but others are actually quite happy about it. They’ve called the show things like ‘bigoted and racist trash.’

The show did have a couple of redeeming features. The villain stood out, and there were a few good lightsaber fights that caught our attention. But even these highlights couldn’t save the show.

The final episode did leave some interesting threads hanging, with cameos from characters like Darth Plagueis and Yoda, hinting at what could have been explored in a second season. But for many, it was too little too late.

We’re now left to wonder what could have been if things had gone differently for ‘The Acolyte.’
