‘The Acolyte’ Misses the Mark Again, Despite Major Lightsaber Showdown
For the second consecutive week, ‘The Acolyte’ has failed to appear on the Nielsen ratings list, this time with its fifth episode which promised a major lightsaber battle. Despite high expectations, it seems we were left wanting more as the episode didnโt generate enough viewership to make the charts.
Nielsen’s figures for the week of June 24 to June 30, 2024, did not feature ‘The Acolyte’, which means it gathered fewer views than ‘Mayor of Kingstown Season 3’, which secured the 10th spot with 319 million minutes watched. Clearly, ‘The Acolyte’ couldn’t reach these numbers.

Itโs hard to ignore comparisons within the Disney+ roster, particularly with other Star Wars series. For instance, ‘Ahsoka’ and ‘Andor’ both outperformed ‘The Acolyte’ in their respective fifth episodes, drawing 577 and 356 million minutes. Even ‘Boba Fett’ and ‘Obi-Wan’ surpassed it significantly with 580 and 733 million minutes respectively. Not to forget ‘The Mandalorian’, which had a stunning viewership of 955 million minutes for its second season and 878 million for the third.
Some claim Nielsen ratings arenโt crucial, pointing out that Disney has Nielsen tracking automatically enabled on our Disney+ accounts. However, these numbers paint a clear picture. Theyโre not just numbers; they show what we are actually watching and enjoying.
Regarding rumors of a second season for ‘The Acolyte’, it seems premature to expect an announcement anytime soon, especially when compared to the success of ‘Ahsoka’, which costs less and attracts double the viewership.
Itโs disappointing to see ‘The Acolyte’ lagging behind, especially when expectations were set high with its action-packed episodes. We hoped for a thrilling addition to the Star Wars saga but itโs turning out to be the least-watched Star Wars series on Disney+. Let’s hope the show can recover and meet our expectations in the future.
