Is ‘The Boys’ Season 4 Losing Steam? Here’s What the Numbers Say

‘The Boys’ Season 4 hit screens on June 13, 2024, and it’s still unfolding, with more episodes on the way. Despite getting a thumbs up with a Certified Fresh rating, the show has faced backlash from those who aren’t fans of its political jokes. The creators, including Kripke, have hit back, telling these viewers to just stop watching if they’re not into it. Although some of us worried this might hurt viewership, Amazon reported a 21% jump in viewers for this season over the last.

However, the latest figures from Luminate paint a different picture. The Boys has seen a 32% drop in viewers, losing about 250 million viewers, but it’s not all bad news. It’s still one of the top five streamed shows right now.

Only a few shows, mainly documentaries and reality TV, are seeing a viewership increase, like ‘Presumed Innocent’ and ‘America’s Sweethearts: Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders.’ When compared to similar scripted shows, ‘The Boys’ is actually doing well, especially next to ‘The Acolyte.’

Even ‘Bridgerton’ has seen a dip in its numbers, which is common for shows during summer. So, the drop for ‘The Boys’ isn’t something out of the ordinary. It remains a hit and is still the third most-watched scripted show, doing better than many others, including ‘Love Island.’

While The Boys may have fewer viewers this season, it’s still holding strong among the most-watched shows, and the drop doesn’t spell disaster. It’s still a must-watch for many of us, controversies and all.
