The second episode of ‘The Penguin’ on HBO Max attracted a substantial audience, gathering 1.6 million viewers this past Sunday. This represents a 17% increase compared to the show’s debut, highlighting a growing interest in the series.

According to Warner Bros. Discovery, the series premiere initially brought in 5.3 million viewers after aggregating the counts from the first linear airing, streaming, and repeat broadcasts on HBO over four days. It appears the debut night pulled in about 1.3 million viewers. Switching ‘The Penguin’ to a regular Sunday slot seems to have bolstered its viewership numbers significantly from its initial Thursday premiere.

By the eleventh day, viewership numbers for the first episode had climbed to 10.4 million, placing ‘The Penguin’ just behind heavy hitters ‘House of the Dragon’ and ‘The Last of Us’ among HBO’s current offerings.

‘The Penguin’ emerges as the first new series from DC Studios under the guidance of James Gunn and Peter Safran, although it was already in development before they took over as co-CEOs. Lauren LeFranc is at the helm as showrunner, with significant contributions from Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, Craig Zobel, and Bill Carraro. Production efforts come from Reeves’ 6th & Idaho Productions and Dylan Clark Productions, in collaboration with Warner Bros Television and DC Studios. Daniel Pipski also joins as an executive producer.

As this series progresses, it’ll be interesting to see how it fares against its robust competition and whether it can maintain its momentum in viewership. Stay tuned for more updates on ‘The Penguin’ and its journey through the ratings chart.
