‘The Penguin’ Viewership Ratings Destroy ‘House of the Dragon,’ ‘Rings of Power,’ ‘The Acolyte,’ ‘Ahsoka’ and More

As streaming wars heat up, ‘The Penguin’ emerges as a clear front-runner, pulling in impressive viewership numbers that have left competitors trailing. Samba TV reports that within the first four days of its release, a whopping 3.2 million households tuned into the first episode of ‘The Penguin’. This follows the success of ‘The Batman’, which attracted 4.1 million households during its debut week on the Max streaming service in April 2022.

In stark contrast, the second season premiere of ‘House of the Dragon’ on Max saw a significant drop, attracting 50% fewer viewers on its first day compared to the 2.6 million households of its first season. The numbers eventually reached 4.8 million in the first four days, but still didn’t surpass ‘The Penguin’.

Meanwhile, the ‘Rings of Power’ on Amazon Prime Video only managed to gather 902,000 households for its season two premiere. It’s interesting to note that Samba TV did not release viewership data for ‘The Acolyte’, potentially at the behest of Disney, an investor in Samba TV. This series was discontinued after just one season.

Other notable series like ‘Ahsoka’, ‘The Mandalorian’, ‘Obi-Wan’, and ‘Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness’ also fell short of ‘The Penguin’s’ numbers. ‘Ahsoka’ drew 1.2 million households over six days, ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 3 had 1.6 million, ‘Obi-Wan’ garnered 2.14 million over four days, and ‘Doctor Strange 2’ attracted 2.1 million in the first five days on Disney+.

Critics and fans alike have warmly received ‘The Penguin’, which boasts a 94% rating from critics and a 90% fan score on Rotten Tomatoes. Colin Farrell stars in this acclaimed series, with new episodes premiering on Sunday nights.

Adding to the excitement, ‘The Batman Part II’ is currently in the works with Matt Reeves at the helm and Robert Pattinson reprising his role. Slated for release on October 2, 2026, anticipation is building for what this next chapter will bring.

Clearly, ‘The Penguin’ has set a new standard for TV series, demonstrating a strong lead in the competitive streaming landscape. With its compelling storytelling and stellar performances, it’s no surprise that viewers are flocking to see what all the fuss is about.
