Timothée Chalamet Dominates Christmas Box Office for Third Year
Timothée Chalamet has claimed the title of Christmas box office king with ‘Marty Supreme’. The A24 ping-pong drama earned $27 million over the four-day holiday weekend. This marks his third consecutive holiday season leading the charts.
Chalamet’s streak began with ‘Wonka’ in 2023. It continued with ‘A Complete Unknown’ in 2024. ‘Marty Supreme’ expanded to over 2,600 theaters and ranked second domestically.
The film opened to $9.5 million on Christmas Day. Friday added $6.7 million. Strong word-of-mouth and Chalamet’s promotion drove the performance.
‘Avatar: Fire and Ash’ led the weekend with around $60 million in its second frame. Domestic totals reached $217 million. Global earnings surpassed $760 million.
‘Anaconda’ debuted with $23 million domestically. The remake ranked third. Updated effects attracted thrill-seeking audiences.
‘Zootopia 2’ held strongly in its fifth weekend. It earned $20 million domestically. International totals pushed it past key milestones.
‘Song Sung Blue’ opened with $12 million. The Focus Features musical ranked among top new entries. Emotional storytelling appealed to adult viewers.
‘David’ from Angel Studios earned $12.69 million. ‘The SpongeBob Movie: Search for SquarePants’ added $11 million. Diverse genres fueled the strongest post-pandemic holiday period.
Domestic box office for 2025 neared $8.76 billion. Multiple titles posted double-digit millions. Carryover momentum projected into early 2026.
