TVA Theory for ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’

In the upcoming film ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’, the Time Variance Authority (TVA) plays a crucial role, pulling Wade Wilson from his quiet life to team up with Wolverine on a mission that could reshape the MCU. This setup has sparked various theories, especially after the changes seen in the TVA by the end of ‘Loki’ Season 2.

A theory I came across, shared by Tytress on Reddit, suggests that the TVA’s involvement with Deadpool isn’t just about controlling the timeline but possibly recruiting him due to his unique abilities, like breaking the fourth wall. Unlike their previous operations, they don’t seem to be in a rush to prune him or the timeline; instead, they seem to need his help.

At the end of ‘Deadpool 2’, Deadpool uses Cable’s time belt to save Vanessa and Peter, which might have retconned the events of the movie. This could be why the TVA steps in. However, it’s noted that this isn’t the same TVA we saw run by Renslayer; it’s different after the events of ‘Loki’. They approached Wade differently this time, not just barging in and taking drastic actions.

The trailers and leaked set footage hint that Deadpool is seen as important by the TVA, given special treatment like access to the control room and receiving his suit back. This suggests they really need his skills for whatever challenge they are facing now.

But how does Wolverine fit into all this? That’s still a bit of a mystery. Some speculate that his role might be tied to Deadpool’s mission in a way that will introduce mutants more solidly into the MCU.

The film promises to be a significant step for the MCU, especially with Deadpool now fully integrated into the universe, keeping his R-rated edge. With Shawn Levy directing and a strong cast including Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, the anticipation is high.

The main question now is whether the TVA’s gamble on Deadpool will pay off or if it will just complicate the already tangled web of MCU timelines. We’ll find out when ‘Deadpool & Wolverine’ hits theaters on July 26, 2024.
