Wesley Snipes Attacks Fans for Trying to Get Mahershala Ali’s ‘Blade’ Canceled
Wesley Snipes, famous for his role as Blade in the original series, recently showed his support for Mahershala Ali stepping into the iconic vampire hunter’s shoes. Despite some calls for the upcoming Blade movie’s cancellation, Snipes had a lighthearted response for those wanting to scrap the project. He shared on his official Instagram, ‘Y’all, crazy! hahaha,’ showing his support for Ali and the continuation of the Blade legacy.
The new Blade film, starring Mahershala Ali, is stirring excitement among us despite facing several delays and production issues. Originally planned to start filming in May 2023, the project has been pushed back due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and other setbacks. Kevin Feige from Marvel Studios confirmed that despite these hurdles, the movie is still in development.
Our concerns about the movie’s progress are not hidden. After all, Blade is meant to be a big deal in the MCU, similar to how Mahershala Ali saw his role as a Black Panther of sorts. The script has gone through changes too; Michael Green replaced Nic Pizzolatto as the writer. The movie is expected to take place in the present, focusing on Blade chasing vampires, though it was initially set to be a period piece featuring Blade’s daughter and Lilith, portrayed by Mia Goth.
Interestingly, Ali’s lawyer, Shelby Weiser, expressed frustration over the ongoing delays since their 2019 agreement to start the film, which has not yet begun filming. This uncertainty fuels rumors and concerns, but there’s hope that things will kick off soon.
Despite the setbacks, many of us are eagerly awaiting the film and support Ali’s new role. Wesley Snipes backing Ali adds a positive spin amid the skepticism and shows that the Blade community remains strong. We’re looking forward to seeing how this new chapter of Blade unfolds and hope the production moves forward smoothly.
