For over a decade, fans of ‘Stargate Universe’ have been left hanging by the suspenseful season two finale.

The episode left the crew of the Destiny frozen in time and space, with only Eli Wallace awake to hold the fort.

It was a cliffhanger that never got its resolution, as the series was cancelled, leaving the storyline in limbo.

The show took us on a cosmic journey aboard the Destiny, a ship with a mind of its own, designed by the Ancients.

By the second season, the crew had begun to understand and somewhat control the ship, hinting at exciting narratives ahead about the origins of the universe.

The characters had also started to gel as a team, a dynamic shift from their earlier conflicts.

Joseph Mallozzi, a writer and producer for the series, shared some potential ideas for a third season on the ‘Dial the Gate’ podcast, hosted by GateWorld.

These ranged from straightforward solutions to wild sci-fi twists. One scenario had Eli fixing his sleep pod and joining the rest in stasis.

Another had him use a shuttle’s power to keep life support running, while a more outlandish idea involved him transferring his consciousness into the ship’s computer.

Other concepts included Earth coming up with a rescue plan, or even future descendants of the crew intervening to save their ancestors, but with dubious intentions.

There was also talk of an advanced, energy-based alien species providing the much-needed power to complete the Destiny’s mission.

While ‘Stargate Universe’ never returned, the spirit of the franchise lives on. The creators have launched a new SYFY series, ‘The Ark,’ written and produced by Dean Devlin and Jonathan Glassner, the minds behind the original Stargate stories.

This new adventure also features Stargate’s knack for blending human drama with speculative science fiction, continuing to spark our imaginations about what lies beyond the stars.
