‘X-Men’ Reboot Movie: Everything We Know So Far
The X-Men are coming back to Marvel, and weโre all excited. With Disney’s purchase of Fox, the X-Men are now part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Although itโs taking some time to get everything ready, it looks like weโre getting closer to seeing our favorite mutants on the big screen again. Here’s what we know so far about the new X-Men movie.
Marvelโs X-Men Latest News
The process of finding writers for the MCU X-Men movie has started. Pitch meetings were set for Fall 2023. According to new rumors from Deadline, Michael Lesslie (โBallad of Songbirds & Snakesโ) are in talks to write the script.
Deadpool 3 is expected to clarify the X-Menโs role in the MCU. This movie will feature several characters from Fox’s X-Men universe. We don’t know if they’ll stay in the MCU or if the team will get a new origin.
Writer Jeff Loveness said the X-Men wouldn’t be in Avengers: The Kang Dynasty. However, he has left the project, and itโs unclear if this will change. Hints about the X-Men are popping up, and more solid news may come soon.
Marvelโs X-Men Confirmed
Despite several hints and Easter eggs, Kevin Feige has been secretive about when and how the X-Men will be introduced. It’s confirmed that the X-Men will appear in the MCU, but the details are still unclear.
- Professor X: Appeared in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
- Beast: Made a cameo in The Marvels.
- Ms. Marvel: Revealed as a mutant in her series.
- Namor: Established as a mutant in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
These characters’ appearances hint at a broader plan. The X-Men’s first solo MCU movie is coming, but we don’t know when yet.
Marvelโs X-Men Release Date
There is no release date yet for Marvelโs X-Men movie. Itโs uncertain if the movie will be part of MCU Phase 6 or come later. Marvel Studios still has some reserved dates in Phase 6, but it seems unlikely the movie will be ready by then.
Given the early stage of the creative process, a Phase 6 release seems doubtful. The movie might drop after Avengers: Secret Wars in Phase 7. Weโll have to wait and see.
Marvel’s X-Men Cast
Thereโs not much information about the cast for the MCUโs X-Men movie. Deadpool and Wolverine are joining the MCU, and one or both might stick around full-time.
- Deadpool: Played by Ryan Reynolds, set to appear in Deadpool 3.
- Wolverine: Played by Hugh Jackman, also set to appear in Deadpool 3.
- Beast: Kelsey Grammer reprised his role in The Marvels.
- Ms. Marvel: Played by Iman Vellani, revealed as a mutant but likely leading the Young Avengers for now.
Weโll have to wait for more casting announcements to know who else will join the team.
Marvelโs X-Men Story Details
There are no official story details for the new X-Men movie. One big challenge is explaining where the X-Men have been before their introduction. Given the mix of younger and older heroes, it seems unlikely theyโll form from within the MCU’s Earth-616.
The Multiverse Saga offers a solution. The X-Men could come from another reality where theyโre already established. This approach would align with how other teams have been shown in different realities, like the Illuminati.
How The MCU Has Set Up The X-Men
The MCU has sprinkled hints and clues about the X-Men. Mutants were officially confirmed in the Ms. Marvel series. Ms. Marvel discovered her powers came from a mutation, and the classic X-Men theme song played during the reveal.
Namor is another confirmed mutant, introduced in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Professor X and Beast also made appearances, but their future in the mainline MCU is unclear. Deadpool and Wolverine are set to join, which could bring more X-Men characters into the fold.

Several X-Men-related characters have already appeared in the MCU. These characters hint at the teamโs future.
- Kamala Khan, AKA Ms. Marvel: Appeared in Ms. Marvel series and The Marvels.
- Namor: Appeared in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever.
