Zack Snyder Spills the Beans on a New ‘300’ Spin-Off Show
Zack Snyder, the visionary behind ‘300,’ has just let slip some exciting news. While chatting with Comicbook.com about his latest project, ‘Twilight of the Gods,’ Snyder revealed he’s gearing up for a brand new show based on the ‘300’ universe. He couldn’t hide his enthusiasm, saying, “We’re just getting ready to dive in and get to work on it. It’s super fun; I love the world.”
The rumor mill has been churning for years about a potential series, and now it’s official. Snyder’s revelation confirms earlier speculations that a spin-off was in the works. He expressed sheer excitement about the project’s possibilities, drawing a parallel to his current work: “It’s similar to ‘Twilight of the Gods’ in a weird way. As far as there’s a lot of underpinnings.”
In a twist of fate, Snyder has regained the rights to ‘Blood and Ashes,’ a story he penned during his time working on ‘Army of the Dead.’ Initially proposed as a sequel to ‘300’ and its follow-up ‘Rise of an Empire,’ this story shifts focus from the Spartans to a more intimate narrative about Alexander the Great and his second in command, Haphaestion.
Snyder shared with The Hollywood Reporter, “We got the rights back so we can make if we want it. I don’t know what the marketplace is for an incredibly homoerotic, super violent, super sexual movie. But maybe it’s perfect.”
The director also reminisced about his scrapped ‘Blood and Ashes’ movie on The Joe Rogan Experience. He revealed that he intended to pen the final chapter in the ‘300’ saga during the pandemic but ended up crafting a different story altogether. “It turned out to be a love story,” Snyder noted. His version didn’t align with Warner Bros.’ vision, leading to its rejection. “You know, they’re not huge fans of mine. It is what it is,” he remarked wryly.
Now, even though we and many fans are looking forward to the show, the latter are urging him not to write it alone following the significant setbacks with ‘Rebel Moon’ and the DCEU. Check out some of the comments below:
With Snyder’s ongoing deal with Netflix, it’s highly likely this new ‘300’ series, assuming it doesn’t involve the Spartan characters bound by Warner Bros.’ rights, will find a home on the streaming giant.
For now, we can only speculate on the details and hope to hear more soon. What do you think about this development?
