Ben Affleck Reportedly in Talks to Join the MCU

Ben Affleck, known for his role as Batman, might be entering the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). Despite having declared his retirement from superhero films after his experience with ‘Justice League,’ there’s ongoing speculation that he’s considering a role in the MCU. This rumor has been circulating for about a year.

Insider Daniel Richtman, known for reliable scoops, suggests that Affleck won’t be reprising his Daredevil character, especially not in the reshoots of ‘Deadpool & Wolverine,’ which aims to include more cameos. This puts to rest any ideas of him returning as a Daredevil variant alongside Jennifer Garner’s Elektra.

Previously, James Gunn had hinted at potential collaborations with Affleck, possibly as a director, but Affleck firmly denied any interest in DC Universe projects under its current leadership. This refusal sparked discussions about his future involvement in superhero projects.

Yet, the distinction between DCU and MCU might be significant here. Affleck’s issues with DCU don’t necessarily translate to the Marvel side of things, and it’s possible he’s reconsidered his stance given enough time has passed since the ‘Justice League’ debacle.

I belive it would be cool if he would to play a Nighthawk! If you don’t know about the character, here is a short introduction:

Kyle Richmond is a a wealthy young man who is driven to fight crime in New York after his parents, Arthur Richmond and his wife, Rosalie Richmond are viciously gunned down as a child before his eyes. He turned his father’s investments into a thriving corporation. He then uses his wealth to create a bulletproof costume and an arsenal of weapons that he would use to fight those who preyed on the Innocent. Richmond named his costumed identity Nighthawk, as a nod to the bird that flew overhead the night of his parents’ murder.

Sounds sounds familiar? And just take a look at him:

It’s fascinating to think about what role he could play in the MCU. Although nothing specific is known yet, it’s clear he won’t be involved with Daredevil or related projects. As we watch this story unfold, I can’t help but be intrigued by the possibility of seeing Affleck in a new superhero light.
