Their wager quickly becomes complicated when Cho Won confronts Lady Cho in private, asking, “Do you still hold me in your heart?”

As Cho Won relentlessly pursues Hui-yeon, the line between feigned devotion and authentic emotion dissolves, throwing their original scheme into disarray. Lady Cho realizes that manipulating romantic desire carries dangerous consequences once jealousy surfaces. Leading the cast is Son Ye-jin, marking her first historical drama in 24 years since 2002’s ‘Chihwaseon’ and her television comeback following 2022’s ‘Thirty-Nine’. “Lady Jo had the name Jo Yoon, and she was independent and self-directed from a young age,” Son explained during a press conference covered by Allkpop. “She was skilled at writing and painting, but there were few places in the Joseon era where a woman could use her talents.”

Ji Chang-wook stars opposite her as the charming Cho Won, continuing his run of intense roles following ‘The Worst of Evil’. Cho Won moves through Joseon society with cynical confidence, hiding personal longing behind a libertine lifestyle. Ji infuses the legendary seducer with genuine vulnerability, making his struggle between strategic pride and unexpected love thoroughly captivating.

Rounding out the lead trio is Nana, taking on her first historical drama as the principled widow Hui-yeon.
