Iman Vellani, known for her role in Ms. Marvel, recently shared her excitement about her character Kamala Khan’s pivotal role in the upcoming Disney+ series, Marvel Zombies. In an interview with The Direct, she revealed she has completed her voice work for the series. She described her character as the ‘Frodo’ of this series, central to the unfolding events, much like Frodo Baggins in the Lord of the Rings.

The series promises a thrilling adventure, featuring zombie versions of popular characters like Scarlet Witch, Captain Marvel, and Captain America. Kamala finds herself at the center, interacting with a diverse cast of Marvel characters. These include Yelena Belova, Jimmy Woo, and Shang-Chi. Despite only providing the voice for her character, Vellani expressed joy in the opportunity to engage with such iconic figures, even if it’s just in animation.

She highlighted the series’ darker tone, noting its TV-MA rating which suggests it will include plenty of gore and action expected from a zombie narrative. The excitement is building for Marvel Zombies, even though a release date hasn’t been announced yet.

Vellani also touched on the broader impact of the series, suggesting that the dynamic character interactions and intense scenarios could generate excitement comparable to Avengers: Endgame. However, she noted that we shouldn’t expect the original Avengers like Chris Evans’ Captain America to make a comeback.

As the Marvel Cinematic Universe continues to expand, series like Marvel Zombies are setting the stage for new kinds of storytelling within the superhero genre. This series, in particular, seems set to blend classic Marvel action with the grim, thrilling elements of zombie tales, promising a unique and engaging addition to the MCU lineup.
